Pokey's bartending adventures

so...I asked a guy at the bar how his oysters were. He said...well done (and gestured 2 thumbs up). I said...actually they're rare. He said...I like your raw sense of humor.

Our new 1971 datsun 510 wagon...

Something nice someone said about us...

One of Benjamin Franklin’s last theories was that taking in a good view while eating aids both in digestion and in the ability to squeeze milk out of coal. Perched on the banks of the Fox River, Becket's lofty-windowed dining room beguiles guests with riverfront mise-en-scéne and modern American specialties. Emphasizing high-quality, local ingredients, Becket's menu accents imaginative sandwiches, fresh seafood, and American staples with quirky flourishes and saucy cardigans. Sate style-hungry stomachs with the caprese sandwich laden with Wisconsin mozzarella, tomato, and basil and your choice of a chicken breast or burger ($9). Heartier alternatives include the pecan crusted walleye ($16) and the grilled pork loin, two 5-ounce filets lolling about on a bed of sautéed apples ($12). Becket's hosts live entertainment four nights a week and offers a spacious bar to take in the views of figure-skating squirrels.

Eight Yelpers give Becket's an average of 3.5 stars, six TripAdvisors give it an average of four owl eyes, and 73% of more than 180 Urbanspooners like it:

Food was great-everyone loves the pretzel bread. There were 3 of us and we all loved the food, service and atmosphere. Will definitely return… – Joni W, Urbanspoon
Even for a restaurant named after the architect that designed the Park Plaza, the aesthetic ambiance both inside the restaurant and outside (it overlooks the Fox River) is fantastic. – Michael G., Yelp
